The White Bird Motel was sold to a super cool lady - Barbara O'Nash in March of 2008. Since we no longer own it, we can't offer any specials to our shuttlers, but we highly recommend the motel for your accomodations.  That number is 208-839-2646.

The White Bird Motel has a full service laundromat.  Pet friendly, with cable tv.  There are clean non smoking rooms and cabins, refridgerators, stoves in some cabins and air conditioning in all rooms.  Located across the street from a cool antique store, the local drinking establishments and a cafe that is open at five am for the early birds.  Mac's Bar and Grill is an awesome place to eat if you are a steak lover.  The atmosphere is great.  Mac's is a non smoking bar too, so you don't smell like a cigarette if you want to have a few beers. The Silver Dollar is an excellent place to eat if you are looking for a whole lot of food at a reasonable price.  Excellent Breakfast! Karaoke is on the weekends at Mac's and The Silver Dollar.   Hammer Creek is only a few miles from the motel.

If you plan on camping, Hammer Creek is an ideal spot for that.  It has a facilities and great camp spots.  The weekends can sometimes be tough in the summer to find a place, so make sure that maybe someone in your party comes early and secures a spot. If you call, we can give you a pretty good idea of how many parties are camped there, since it's practically in our backyard!

Camping on Beaches ( A 6 Day Guide)

From Hammer Creek, raft to Killer Goat Beach (river mile 19.2> or White House Bar (river mile 24.5) for Camp 2. Killer Goat Beach has the remains of several Chinese stone cabins and a reservoir, while White House Bar has 2 large camp spots on a big beautiful beach with room for a volleyball court. From or from White House Bar raft through Snow Hole canyon and rapids to Maloney Creek (river mile 32.5) and Camp 3, the most Northern point of the Salmon River. There are 2 large spots and 1 small camp spot at the mouth of the creek at the top of the oxbow. From Maloney Creek raft to Skeleton Creek just after the Skeleton Creek rapids (river mile 42.5) and Camp 4. A grove of Locust trees provides one of the few shady camp spots on the Lower Salmon River. From Skeleton Creek raft to the Pullman Mine just before the Confluence of the Salmon and Snake Rivers (river mile 52.9) and Camp 5. The copper mine here was active in the 1920's and mining equipment is still visible. From the Pullman Mine raft down the Snake River to Heller Bar and the take-out (river mile 72.6). It's located on river left, just past the Grande Ronde Confluence. This take-out has a concrete boat ramp, toilets and parking. If you would like to add another day and break up this last section, there's a nice camp spot at Cotton Wood Creek (river mile 60.2).
